The role supports major development activities across the SCaN Network Services Division, helping transition new technologies and capabilities into operational networks that span multiple NASA centers and international partners. Responsibilities shift throughout the year depending on program needs, ranging from detailed engineering review to broader program planning and issue management.

Requirements

  • Engineering background with experience contributing to project management activities (schedule, budget, and technical).
  • Strong organization, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple concurrent activities in a fast‑moving environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to coordinate across diverse teams.
  • Ability to independently identify issues, opportunities, and trends that may impact program performance.
  • Some travel may be necessary.
  • Proficiency with MS Office tools;
  • Must be U.S. Citizen and be able to obtain a government issued Secret clearance.
  • A Bachelor's Degree is required, preferably in an engineering field, such as systems engineering, electrical engineering, aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 8+ or more of relevant work experience is required.

Nice To Haves

  • NASA experience or familiarity with satellite systems, ground station operations, or space communications architectures.

Responsibilities

  • Support planning, scheduling, and coordination for major program and project reviews. Coordinate meetings, capture and disseminate notes, maintain action tracking, and follow up with responsible parties.
  • Monitor and maintain visibility into actions, decisions, risks, commitments, and emerging issues across the SCaN portfolio. Meet with decision makers to review status and identify necessary engagement with centers or HQ organizations.
  • Represent the manager in meetings during travel or schedule conflicts and provide concise summaries of outcomes and significant developments.
  • Assist with both near‑term and long‑range planning, including investment prioritization and alignment of DSN and SCaN activities across cost, schedule, and technical domains.
  • Review technical documents or programmatic discussions and ensure alignment with overall program execution strategy.
  • Perform quick‑turn analyses and decision support, including issue framing, options development, and impact assessments.
  • Generate and edit presentations, reports, spreadsheets, and communication products related to technical development activities. Consolidate input from diverse stakeholders into unified, clear messaging.
  • Conduct systems engineering reviews of requirements, CONOPS, design documents (PMPs, SEMPs, Risk Management Plans, etc.), specifications, test plans, and reports. Provide technical assessments and support technical trades when required.
  • Maintain and organize documentation in central repositories for program stakeholders. Coordinate with center project leads and SCaN HQ personnel on deliverables and upcoming milestones.
  • Apply agile‑aligned processes when appropriate to the nature of the work.
