This is a hybrid role being onsite in Maple Plain, MN on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. We are seeking a highly skilled and forward thinking Senior Tax Analyst to play a key role within our Finance organization. This position serves as a technical expert across income and sales tax compliance, ensuring the accuracy, timeliness, and integrity of all tax filings and related financial data. The Senior Tax Analyst will proactively identify risks and opportunities, provide informed guidance on tax implications of business decisions, and support strategic initiatives that enhance the company’s financial performance. This role requires exceptional analytical ability, strong collaboration across accounting, finance, and legal teams, and a commitment to maintaining compliance in a dynamic regulatory environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • Minimum of 2-4 years of experience in tax and treasury roles, preferably within a large corporation or public accounting firm.
  • Strong understanding of federal, state, and local tax regulations.
  • Experience with international tax and compliance.
  • Proficiency in financial software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • High attention to detail and strong organizational abilities.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and within a team.

Nice To Haves

  • CPA or Master’s degree in Taxation preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Income Tax Compliance and Reporting: Work with external advisors to compile information to file federal, state, and local tax returns, ensuring accurate and timely submissions.
  • Manage and review all tax-related accounting records, schedules, and journal entries.
  • Prepare and/or review components of the ASC 740 income tax provision, including related disclosures and quarterly/annual tax accounting workpapers.
  • Prepare quarterly federal and state estimated tax payments and extensions.
  • Maintain and update tax depreciation schedules and tax basis files for U.S. entities
  • Handle tax audits and interact with tax authorities on various matters.
  • Sales Tax Compliance: Review and file accurate and timely sales tax returns for multiple states and jurisdictions.
  • Calculate and remit sales tax payments.
  • Review and upload valid exemption certificates.
  • Maintain compliance with state and local sales tax laws and regulations.
  • Identify and implement improvements to sales tax processes and systems.
  • Tax Research & Technical Expertise – Additional Duties: Perform technical tax research on federal, state, and local issues, documenting conclusions and recommendations.
  • Support compliance with SOX internal control requirements, including maintaining documentation for key controls related to tax processes.
  • Tax Planning and Advisory: Advise management on the tax implications of business activities and transactions.
  • Monitor changes in tax law and assess potential impacts on the company.
  • Provide support on international tax matters, including transfer pricing and cross-border transactions.
  • Collaboration and Leadership: Work closely with the accounting, finance, and legal teams to ensure alignment on tax and treasury issues.
  • Lead or participate in special projects as assigned.
