Senior Technical Product Manager - TeraWave

BLUE ORIGINArlington, VA

About The Position

At Blue Origin, we envision millions of people living and working in space for the benefit of Earth. We’re working to develop reusable, safe, and low-cost space vehicles and systems within a culture of safety, collaboration, and inclusion. Join our team of problem solvers as we add new chapters to the history of spaceflight! This role is part of TeraWave, a satellite communications network designed to deliver symmetrical data speeds of up to 6 Tbps anywhere on Earth. This network will service tens of thousands of enterprise, data center, and government users who require reliable connectivity for critical operations. As a Senior Technical Product Manager at Blue Origin, you will serve as a single-threaded owner for one of TeraWave's most critical program domains — driving end-to-end execution across complex hardware, software, and systems workstreams from initial concept through launch and into operations. You will be the Voice of the Customer within your domain, translate business and customer needs into executable plans, and ensure the organization delivers against its commitments on the path to TeraWave's Q4 2027 launch. The Mission: You will own execution across a high-stakes TeraWave program domain — which may span integrated schedule ownership and business review mechanisms, customer program delivery, partnerships and supplier execution, or inorganic growth and acquisition evaluation. Regardless of domain, your core job is the same: understand what customers and the business need, build a credible plan to deliver it, surface risks before they become surprises, and drive decisions to closure with clear owners and dates.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, engineering, systems engineering, or a related technical field
  • 8+ years of product or technical program management experience, including 6+ years of working directly with hardware and software engineering teams
  • A proven track record of delivering initiatives from conception through completion — on time, within budget, and on or beyond scope
  • Experience working with engineering teams to define, scope, and prioritize requirements across programs that span both hardware and software
  • Demonstrated experience owning program execution across complex, cross-functional workstreams with multiple external dependencies in aerospace, satellite, defense, telecommunications, or comparable environments
  • Proven track record of building and sustaining operating mechanisms (weekly and monthly reviews, RAID logs, decision logs, dashboards) over a full program lifecycle
  • Experience applying right-to-left planning to expose dependencies and force early decision-making across cross-functional teams
  • Strong technical fluency across system integration, interface control, test and verification, operational readiness, and subsystem dependency management
  • Demonstrated ability to drive decisions to closure in fast-paced, ambiguous environments while managing multiple concurrent workstreams
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills including executive-level written decision documents, status narratives, and risk briefings; comfort presenting to senior leadership and large audiences

Nice To Haves

  • Direct experience in satellite communications, optical communications, ground segment, or RF systems programs with hardware and software co-development dependencies
  • Familiarity with manufacturing readiness, Design for Manufacturability (DFM), Assembly, Integration, and Test (AI&T) planning, and production rate assessment in a space or defense hardware environment
  • Familiarity with U.S. government contracting, export control, and national security space customer and mission dynamics
  • Experience with program-level financial tracking, rough order of magnitude (ROM) estimating, and communicating cost and schedule tradeoffs to senior leadership
  • Experience mentoring or developing junior team members and scaling program management practices in a growing organization

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the Voice of the Customer (VOC) for your program domain throughout the full product lifecycle — from initial concept and requirements definition through launch and subsequent operations support
  • Identify new opportunities and unmet needs by evaluating the business landscape, competitive dynamics, and customer value drivers within your domain
  • Write clear business and program requirements documents; ensure requirements are communicated, understood, and traceable across engineering, operations, strategy, and business development teams
  • Measure and analyze products for opportunities to innovate and improve, providing additional benefits to customers
  • Amplify customer needs throughout technical development; balance business priorities against technical constraints and make transparent tradeoffs with documented rationale
  • Design and run the operating cadence for your domain: weekly execution reviews, risk reviews, decision logs, and corrective action tracking
  • Contribute clean, decision-ready inputs to the TeraWave Weekly Business Review (WBR) and Monthly Business Review (MBR): metrics, narratives, top risks, and corrective actions with owners and dates
  • Produce written escalation packages (options, impacts, assumptions, and a clear recommendation) that enable fast leadership decisions on cross-functional tradeoffs
  • Present confidently to TeraWave and Blue Origin senior leadership as well as large cross-functional audiences
  • Define and track the right metrics for your domain: schedule health, risk burndown, delivery performance, and readiness gate progress
  • Develop and maintain a lesson-learned discipline; capture what worked, what did not, and what the program will do differently on future increments
  • Lead cross-functional technical reviews and drive decisions to closure with documented owners and follow-up verification dates
  • Represent TeraWave program execution in leadership forums, partner engagements, and customer-facing settings as appropriate

Benefits

  • Medical, dental, vision, basic and supplemental life insurance, paid parental leave, short and long-term disability, 401(k) with a company match of up to 5%, and an Education Support Program.
  • Paid Time Off: Up to four (4) weeks per year based on weekly scheduled hours, and up to 14 company-paid holidays.
