Requirements

  • High school diploma, equivalent skilled trades, apprenticeships or equivalent education. Requires a minimum of 4+ years of relevant experience.

Responsibilities

  • As part of the Calibration group, provides senior level metrology technician support for a diverse collection of equipment used in Manufacturing and Lab areas. Specialist duties provide technical system support with respect to software application, development in support of the calibration and metrology effort. Provides the leading effort to identify and implement cost beneficial opportunities for automated metrology to improve productivity. Under very limited to no supervision and many times independently, works on assignments that are complex in nature where considerable judgment and initiative are required to solve problems and make recommendations as they relate to calibration/metrology. Provides guidance, training and direction to less seasoned employees. Applies non-standard electrical, mechanical, electromechanical, optical or test technician calibration duties in such areas as manufacturing, maintenance, quality, testing, engineering, where considerable judgment and initiative is required. Inspects, calibrates, adjusts, tests, documents and maintains equipment, components, devices and systems.
  • Performs up to the most complex equipment calibrations as directed utilizing approved procedures and standards. Participates in the effort to develop and revise procedures to improve P&A parameters and other deliverables of the metrology lab. Captures and documents all relevant calibration data per department procedures. Participates in the technical review of calibration certificates and other records as required by calibration operations.
  • Oversees activities of contract calibration providers on a variety of laboratory analytical equipment and instruments and ensures tasks are performed in compliance with approved procedures.
  • Determines acceptability of calibration certificates based on data analysis and conformance to specifications and procedures.
  • Reviews and approves calibration procedures to ensure technically defensible standards, methods, and procedures for inspecting, testing and evaluating the precision, accuracy and reliability of the equipment, instruments and processes are maintained.
  • May assist in the development and implementation of technical software applications that are QSSDV/Design Control validated which enhance and drive department productivity and customer tools with regard to calibration operations. This includes front end and back end data acquisition interface to the CCMS providing customer friendly tools to ease management of calibrated devices. Responsible for assisting with the validation, documentation, cataloging, maintenance, support and training on such software.
  • Participates and may take lead in identification of improved department process and mapping. Provides software and application tools to streamline the calibration process.
  • May take lead in the upgrade of current CCMS and serves as department liaison to the SW quality organization.
  • May contribute to discussion on the conceptual basis for the calibration of instruments, equipment and development systems.
  • Will deal with highly qualified professionals in the electronics, mechanical, production, quality and bio-medical disciplines.
  • May have design responsibilities at an electrical, mechanical, subassembly and/or systems level with the ability to recommend changes in procedures, process and programs to ensure calibration requirements can be met.
  • May take part in the design, prototyping and pilot testing of new products, processes and procedures to ensure calibration requirements can be met.
  • May provide advice, guidance, training and development to less seasoned technicians.
  • May represent the company on technical matters in dealing with the customer, consultants and regulatory agencies at the professional level.
  • When applicable, follows standard operating procedures for all tasks.
  • Completes all appropriate health, safety and environmental hazard training.
  • Responsible for communicating business related issues or opportunities to next management level.
  • Responsible for ensuring personal and company compliance with all Federal, State, local and company regulations, policies and procedures for Health, Safety and Environmental compliance.
  • Performs other related duties as required.
