About The Position

Are you an experienced Utility Coordinator ready to take a lead role on complex transportation design projects? VIAS Infrastructure is seeking a Senior Utility Coordinator to play a pivotal role in building our utility services practice, mentoring staff, and driving strategic growth in our transportation infrastructure group. This is a high-impact role working closely with the firm's ownership, including supporting roadway, bridge, and multimodal design projects in partnership with NCDOT and SCDOT.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience
5+ years of utility coordination experience
Experience with NCDOT or SCDOT preferred
Knowledge of utility relocation and ROW processes
Ability to interpret engineering plans
Valid driver’s license
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Entrepreneurial mindset and eagerness to build something

Leadership and mentoring experience (preferred but not required)

Responsibilities

Lead utility coordination efforts for transportation design projects with NCDOT and/or SCDOT
Identify existing utilities and potential conflicts through plan reviews and coordination
Coordinate with public and private utility companies
Serve as the primary point of contact between DOTs, utilities, and design teams
Review design plans to assess utility impacts and relocation needs
Track utility coordination schedules and commitments
Facilitate coordination meetings and document decisions
Support preparation of utility agreements and permits
Ensure compliance with DOT and FHWA requirements
Identify risks and support mitigation strategies
