About The Position

We're looking for a Senior UX Designer who sees complexity as a design challenge, not a given. You'll be the design voice in our engineering-led company, transforming enterprise software from "powerful but overwhelming" to "powerful and intuitive." You'll need to be comfortable in all stages of the design process—from watching users struggle with workflows to committing the CSS that fixes the problem. You'll work closely with our design team, collaborate directly with engineers, validate your ideas with real users, and sometimes write the code yourself. You should thrive in ambiguity, love teaching yourself new tools, and get energized by being the only designer in the room. This position reports to the VP of Product.

Requirements

  • 7+ years designing products (preferably B2B, SaaS, or enterprise software)
  • You've been the only designer before—at a startup, on a product team, or in a similar high-autonomy role
  • Portfolio showing how you've tamed complexity: clear before/after examples, thought process, and measurable impact
  • Comfortable with code: you can read HTML/CSS, navigate Git, and make basic commits without hand-holding
  • Research-driven: you've planned and conducted user interviews, usability tests, or contextual inquiries
  • Design systems experience: you've built, maintained, or significantly contributed to a component library or style guide
  • Tool-agnostic but proficient in at least one modern design tool (Figma, Sketch, etc.)
  • Experience working remotely with in-person teams, or you're based in Denver

Nice To Haves

  • You geek out about authentication flows, permission models, or developer tools
  • You can write JavaScript or have worked closely enough with React to understand component thinking
  • Comfortable using tools like Claude Code or Cursor to quickly prototype and test ideas
  • You've used analytics tools (Posthog, Metabase, etc.) to inform design decisions
  • You've shipped designs in open-source projects or developer-focused products
  • You have strong opinions about design but change your mind when presented with better information
  • You're comfortable being uncomfortable—startup chaos doesn't stress you out, it energizes you
  • You understand that "perfect" is the enemy of "shipped" but never compromise on quality where it matters
  • Adaptable to challenges common in a startup with under 100 employees
  • Enjoys and thrives in a dynamic startup vibe
  • Slight preference will be given to someone working out of the Denver, Portland or Seattle metro areas

Responsibilities

  • Own the end-to-end design process for a complex enterprise product used by thousands of organizations
  • Ruthlessly simplify: identify and eliminate unnecessary cognitive load in workflows, navigation, and UI patterns
  • Build and evolve our design system—ensuring every component, pattern, and guideline serves users and scales with the product
  • Get close to users: conduct research sessions, watch session recordings, analyze support tickets, and turn insights into designs
  • Partner with engineering on implementation—you'll review PRs, provide feedback, and commit your own HTML/CSS fixes when it's faster
  • Make strategic design decisions independently while keeping stakeholders informed
  • Balance consistency with pragmatism: know when to follow the system and when the system needs to evolve
  • Advocate for users without losing sight of business goals and technical realities

Benefits

  • Comprehensive health insurance including medical, dental, and vision coverage, with the company covering the majority of your medical premiums to keep your costs low
  • Fully employer-paid High Deductible Health Plan (HDHP) option paired with a Health Savings Account (HSA), including employer contributions
  • Basic life insurance and short- and long-term disability coverage fully paid by the company for essential financial protection
  • Voluntary life insurance options to provide additional financial protection for you and your loved ones
  • Healthcare and Dependent Care Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs) to save pre-tax dollars on eligible expenses
  • 401(k) plan with company match to help you save for retirement
  • Generous paid time off (PTO) plus paid company holidays to support work-life balance
  • Employee Assistance Program (EAP) offering confidential counseling and support services
  • Professional growth and development opportunities to boost your career journey
  • Eligibility for performance-based bonuses or variable compensation tied to individual, team, or company results
