About The Position

Osmo is headquartered in New York, NY, with a new facility in New Jersey, and offices in Somerville, MA. Osmo is seeking a Sensor Hardware Development summer intern to build our knowledge and strategies for sensor optimization including sample introduction and signal. You will be a member of the Sensors team, reporting to the Director of Sensor Technology.

Requirements

  • Current Undergraduate or Graduate student in electrical or mechanical engineering.
  • Experience with rapid prototyping and experimental hardware platforms, such as:
  • Microcontroller-based systems (e.g., Arduino-class platforms)
  • Single-board computers (e.g., Raspberry Pi-class platforms)
  • Sensors, actuators, pumps, valves, or other fluid-handling components
  • Experience in CAD software, additive manufacturing, and embedded systems engineering.
  • Interest in learning about chemical sensing and analytical chemistry.
  • Strong collaborative mindset and initiative to tackle problems

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in fluid dynamics
  • Experience in chemical sensing techniques such as ion mobility spectrometry, mass spectrometry, and spectroscopy
  • Additional experience in chemistry or machine learning

Responsibilities

  • Working under the direction of our Sensor Application Scientist and reporting to the Director of Sensor Technology
  • Utilizing knowledge of fluid dynamics, additive manufacturing, and engineering to apply published research findings and optimize sample introduction.
  • Maximizing sensor signal through parameter optimization.
  • 4 days a week in person in our new Elizabeth, NJ facility.
