About The Position

Prater Industries, a leader in airlocks, mills, and separators since 1925, is seeking a hands-on Lab/Service Technician to join our Operations department. In this dual-focus role, you will be instrumental in testing equipment to support sales and engineering while providing expert technical service to our customers both locally and internationally. What You Will Do As a Service Technician, you will be responsible for the setup, operation, and maintenance of specialized equipment. Your key duties will include: Testing & Analysis: Performing routine tests on Prater equipment and prototypes. You will operate laboratory tools such as vac-screens, weigh scale balances, Ro-taps, and Malvern particle analyzers. Data Management: Gathering and documenting test results on laboratory computers and performing basic mathematical calculations. Technical Support: Troubleshooting technical problems and performing maintenance on equipment at our facility and customer sites. Customer Success: Assisting customers with the setup and startup of new equipment and systems. Operations Support: Assisting in the operation of toll facilities and performing simple plumbing and electrical wiring to support testing. Requirements & Qualifications We are looking for a self-motivated team player who enjoys mechanical work and problem-solving. Education: High school diploma or equivalent; additional certifications are a plus. Technical Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office and experienced with Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS). Safety & Compliance: Thorough understanding of OSHA requirements and safety best practices. Certifications: Forklift experience and certification are required. Travel: Must possess a valid passport with no restrictions for international travel. International and domestic travel for this role is required. Math Aptitude: Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions. Physical Demands & Environment Ability to stand for prolonged periods and lift up to 30 pounds. Strong hand-eye coordination. Comfortable working on unforgiving surfaces and in environments with varying temperatures, noises, and odors. Requirements
