About The Position

The Treasurer of the Student Government Association serves as the chief financial officer of the organization. The Treasurer is responsible for ensuring the transparent and accountable use of all student government funds. The Treasurer safeguards student resources by overseeing budgeting and allocation for SGA-funded student organizations, financial reporting, and compliance with university policies. Through ethical financial management and strategic planning, the Treasurer supports student organizations, campus initiatives, and programs that enhance the student experience. The role promotes fiscal responsibility, equity in funding distribution, and informed decision-making to ensure that student fees and allocated funds are used effectively and in alignment with the mission and priorities of the Student Government Association.

Requirements

  • Undergraduate student currently enrolled at Mount St. Joseph University
  • Must maintain and uphold a 2.5 GPA semesterly
  • Must be in good standing with Mount St. Joseph University

Responsibilities

  • Upholding and enforcing the provisions of the Constitution
  • Assist in making immediate necessary decisions concerning the Student Government
  • Assist in resolving any disputes over the interpretation of the Constitution, with advice from the SGA Advisor
  • Attend all meetings of the Student Government Association
  • Assist in approving stipends for the elected SGA members
  • Have the right to call meetings to order between the Executive Board and Committee chairs as necessary.
  • Supervise all Student Government financial affairs, which include all accounts of the Student Government and formally recognized Student Organizations.
  • Review monthly expense reports for Student Government-recognized organization discretionary and SGA-allocated accounts.
  • The SGA Treasurer will serve on the University-Wide Planning and Budget Committee.
  • Communicate decisions made by the SGA General Assembly to Student Organization Officers and Advisors
  • Review all SGA budget requests and execute the approval procedure process.
  • Will collaborate with the Center for Mission and Belonging in the semesterly SGA organization training
