The Shag Driver is responsible for the efficient and safe movement of trailers and equipment within a facility or yard. This role ensures that trailers are positioned correctly for loading and unloading and maintains the orderly flow of operations in the yard. Start of each shift complete pre-trip an inspection report of the shag truck. Report any deficiencies to the supervisor and truck maintenance dept. Complete a list of all empty trailers on site and return the list to the shipping dept. Start refrigeration units and move trailers in and out of docks as required by shipping dept., rendering dept., maintenance dept., and fuel trailers as required. Record Report carrier name, trailer number, fuel level, reefer set temp, and running temp to the guards along with status of the load, finished load or start load. Assist all carriers as needed with movement of trailers or lifting of trailers. Maintain trailer organization in the trailer drop lot and the loaded trailer line. The 2nd shift shag driver will be responsible for staging empty or partial trailers in docks for the next day’s production as requested by shipping and rendering departments. Report any known problems with refrigeration units immediately to the shipping department, after hours report to the guards. NOTE: this description is not intended to be all inclusive.
