About The Position

Job Overview Provides lead services within the shipping and receiving department. Where technicians and leads, verify and keep records on incoming and outgoing shipments. Prepares items for shipment by performing the following duties to quality and productivity standards. Work successfully with fellow employees and customers. Understand and follow instructions, both verbal and written. Explain how to complete a task, understand instructions for task using basic communication skills.   • High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED); or one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must be computer literate – knowledge of Microsoft Suite preferred (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Must have thorough understanding of material handling.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence or present information.

Responsibilities

  • Schedules and monitors deliveries
  • Provides direction to staff based on management instruction.
  • Receives and unloads freight both manually or with pallet jacks
  • Measure and record the daily volume of incoming and outgoing USPS mail, intercompany mail, UPS/FedEx/DHL packages as required
  • Checks for damaged goods; verifies quantity and quality of order
  • Verifies items received with PO
  • Transfer material from wood pallets to plastic pallets
  • Wraps packages and ships supplies
  • Unpacks, examines and routes incoming shipments, rejects damaged items, records shortages, and corresponds with shipper to rectify damages and shortages.
  • Stocks shelves and rotates inventory
  • May receive hazardous material
  • Maintains inventory records
  • Maintains inventory of shipping materials and supplies.
  • Performs all computer functions necessary to track various aspects of goods.
  • Supports the shipment of goods produced and the received goods and supplies to be used in or to aid in the production/storage of goods destined for sale to our customer base.
  • Responsible for making arrangements for pick up by the carrier specified on the customer’s purchase order, which is conveyed to the shipping clerk by final inspection via the shipping instructions.
  • Reports defective materials or questionable conditions to the department supervisor.
  • Responsible for keeping an adequate supply of shipping materials on hand at all times.
  • Maintains the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition and follows prescribed safety regulations
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Frequently required to use email, phone, and direct interaction with customers, suppliers, and site team
  • Required to regularly lift and/or move up to 10 lbs., frequently lift and/or move up to 35 lbs.
  • May assemble furniture.
  • Assists with tasks as directed by SBM site leadership.
