About The Position

As a Shipping Clerk at Atlas Tube at Zekelman Industries , Chicago, IL , this role supports warehouse and shipping operations by preparing accurate documentation for the shipment of steel tubes. This position works closely with the warehouse team to ensure all shipping paperwork, certifications, and system entries are completed efficiently and accurately. This role is ideal for individuals who are detail-oriented, organized, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced industrial environment. Shift: Sunday to Friday, 10PM – 6:20AM

Requirements

Willingness and ability to work various shifts
Perform work in a warehouse or office environment
Sit, stand, and move throughout the work area as needed
Use computers and office equipment for extended periods
Meet additional physical requirements as necessary to support job responsibilities

Nice To Haves

Post-secondary education, preferred
Experience working in shipping, logistics, or warehouse administration environments, preferred
Strong computer skills and familiarity with business systems such as SAP or similar platforms

Responsibilities

Create bills of lading and customs documentation for outbound shipments
Generate Material Test Reports (MTRs) for all prime loads of material
Send bills of lading and MTRs to customers via fax or email prior to shipment arrival
Complete additional shipment documentation as required
Create scrap bills of lading through the Scrap Portal system
Scan shipping documentation into IMS21 for recordkeeping
Greet drivers upon arrival and sign them in professionally
Assign drivers within the TMS+ driver module and coordinate shipping activities
Use SAP to perform stock lookups, identify tag numbers, and manage mixed heat or foreign coil lists
File completed shipping paperwork and maintain organized documentation records
Collaborate with team members to support departmental goals and shipping efficiency
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
Follow workplace safety practices in accordance with company policies and applicable safety regulations
