About The Position

Under the direction of the Department Manager, the Shipping Lead ensures the production of company products at the highest quality and at the lowest possible cost, meeting company policies and procedures. The Shipping Lead will act in a manner that is consistent with Gordon Aluminum’s Customer 1st Philosophy.

The general purpose of the Shipping Lead is to help the team to work safely and efficiently while maintaining focus on quality.

Requirements

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Responsibilities

• Know and guide the shipping teams to maintain the production schedules.
• Coach, guide and develop skills of new employees.
• Work to assure proper flow of material and packaging to keep production moving.
• Communicate within the organization as needed.
• Be able to perform all duties within the shipping department to fill in when needed.
• Performing all work-related tasks in a manner that is in compliance with all Federal, State, and local standards and regulations.
• Adhering to Company policies, procedures, and directives regarding safety and standards of workplace behavior, in completing job duties and assignments
