The Shipping & Receiving Specialist will be responsible for shipping and receiving activities, monitoring and tracking shipments, maintaining and communicating the shipping/receiving corporate policy, and assisting in some facilities related activities.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree and 4-6 years of shipping and receiving experience preferably in the biotech or pharmaceutical industry.
  • Attention to detail and exceptional organizational skills.
  • Proactive in identifying issues and takes the initiative to identify solutions.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Technologically savvy and able to learn new software quickly.
  • Intermediate-to-Advanced Excel skills.
  • Highly motivated with a desire to grow with the company.

Responsibilities

  • Receive & Inspect: Receive, inspect, and sign for all incoming packages and freight from carriers (e.g., FedEx, UPS, DHL, specialty couriers).
  • Specialized Handling: Manage the receipt of specialized materials common to a biotech environment, including temperature-sensitive (cold-chain), hazardous, and regulated items, following all established SOPs and safety protocols.
  • System Entry: Promptly and accurately log all received items into the company’s inventory management or ERP system.
  • Internal Distribution: Sort and deliver packages and mail to the appropriate internal recipients, departments, and stockroom locations in a timely manner.
  • Cycle Counts: Perform regular cycle counts and assist with periodic full physical inventory audits to ensure system accuracy.
  • Monitoring: Monitor stock levels of critical supplies and communicate re-order needs to the procurement team or appropriate department heads.
  • Outbound Prep: Prepare, package, and label outbound shipments, ensuring all items are secure and compliant.
  • Documentation: Complete and verify all necessary shipping documentation for domestic and international shipments, including customs forms if needed.
