Plan, direct, and coordinate all CONUS and OCONUS operations for all shipping and transportation activities within TCOM. This includes shipments to and from TCOM as well as between TCOM sites. Establish and coordinate training and certification plans for Logistics operations, such as shipping and HazMat training. Plan, direct, or coordinate the operations within assigned functions. Duties and responsibilities include formulating policies, managing daily operations, and planning the use of materials and human resources, but are too diverse and general in nature to be classified in any one functional area of management or administration, such as personnel, purchasing, or administrative service. This opening is for the Purchasing department. Working Procedure: Getting Information — Observing, receiving, and otherwise obtaining information from all relevant sources. Collaborate with other departments to integrate logistics transportation with business systems or processes, such as customer sales, order management, accounting, or shipping Review contracts, ensuring shipping/transportation activities meeting program specific requirements. Making Decisions and Solving Problems — Analyzing information and evaluating results to choose the best solution and solve problems. Maintain metrics, reports, process documentation, customer service logs, or training or safety records Coordinating the Work and Activities of Others — Getting members of a group to work together to accomplish tasks. Develop and implement processes to meet business needs. Coordinate all shipping and transportation activities or processes Direct and coordinate activities of workers or staff Direct and coordinate financial activities, including proposals, estimating, negotiations, pricing, etc. Oversee execution of organizational and/or program policies and directives within the shipping departments Negotiate with suppliers or customers to improve shipping and transportation supply chain efficiency or sustainability Negotiate transportation rates or services Develop and maintain relationships with freight forwarders, carriers, and shipping department suppliers. Analyze the financial impact of proposed logistics changes, such as routing, shipping modes, product volumes or mixes, or carriers Ensure compliance with current export control regulations Ensure compliance with hazardous material shipping regulations Scheduling Work and Activities — Scheduling events, programs, and activities, as well as the work of others. Schedule employee assignments and tasks Direct inbound or outbound logistics operations, such as transportation or external warehouse activities, safety performance, or logistics quality management Monitor Processes, Materials, or Surroundings — Monitoring and reviewing information from materials, events, or the environment, to detect or assess problems. Monitoring and Controlling Resources — Monitoring and controlling resources and overseeing the spending of money. Develop budgets Develop management control systems Monitor operational budget Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned. Education Requirement: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Business Management, Supply Chain Management, or equivalent amount of education and experience. Experience Requirement: Requires a minimum of five years’ experience in a logistics environment with direct experience with OCONUS Freight Brokers and Customs; direct experience with OCONUS and CONUS multimodal transportation, understanding of global logistics and experience with direct transportation of hazmat materials.
