About The Position

Advanced Compressor Technology (ACT) is seeking a Shop Intern and Helper. This role provides hands-on support to machinists, mechanics, and shop personnel in a precision manufacturing environment. This entry‑level role is designed for an intern student seeking practical experience in machining, mechanical preparation, and general shop operations. The intern will assist with machining setups, basic CNC production tasks, component preparation, and light assembly work while learning core principles of tooling, safety, and quality control. Responsibilities

  • Assist machinists with setups and provide general manufacturing support.
  • Operate pre programmed CNC machines for light production tasks under supervision.
  • Learn and apply precision tooling concepts and quality control processes.
  • Support mechanics in preparing components—such as cylinders—for machining.
  • Perform light assembly work under the supervision of machinists or mechanics.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized shop environment, including basic housekeeping tasks.
  • Follow all safety protocols and contribute to a positive, productive team atmosphere
