About The Position

Some of the world's most recognized retail brands are rethinking how their stores operate, and Shopify POS is at the center of that transformation. We're looking for the person who will be on the ground making it happen. As our Shopify POS Launch Lead, you'll be the face of these rollouts, working directly with enterprise retail teams to reshape how they run their stores. That means getting deep into how a brand's operations actually work today, auditing current store operations, refining their SOPs, configuring in-POS workflows, and preparing the training that sets their teams up to thrive. Then you own the full journey through go-live, being the steady hand in the room when a major brand flips the switch for the first time. This isn't a behind-the-desk role. You'll be on-site, in the mix, and the reason these rollouts succeed. Please Note: This is a Contract position (hourly rate). The ideal candidate should be able to align their working hours to Eastern Time (ET) or Pacific Time (PT) and should be comfortable with travel.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in retail systems rollout, POS implementation, store systems, retail operations enablement, or similar.
  • Hands-on experience with Shopify POS / POSOS (or very close equivalent) and its constraints/limitations.
  • Proven track record leading multi-store rollout(s) with on-site training and go-live support.
  • Strong SOP/documentation skills (clear, operationally usable process writing).
  • Comfortable in-store: can coach associates/managers, adapt to fast-paced environments, and keep calm during launch issues.
  • Able to travel in rollout “waves” (estimated ~25% travel, with some periods of intensive travel).

Nice To Haves

  • Experience migrating from legacy POS (e.g., Square, Lightspeed, NCR, etc.) into Shopify POS.
  • Familiarity with retail inventory processes (receiving, transfers, cycle counts, full counts).
  • Shopify’s POS Launch and Operations training / verified skills badge.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with Retail Operations, Store Leadership, and HQ stakeholders to document current-state workflows (sales, returns/exchanges, end-of-day, inventory receiving/counts, ship-from-store/BOPIS if applicable).
  • Translate findings into future-state SOPs, job aids, and checklists ready for rollout.
  • Identify gaps/risks and drive alignment on “one way of working” while handling location-specific exceptions.
  • Configure and validate in-store usability settings such as Smart Grid / product grid organization, location settings, and other operational configurations as required.
  • Ensure the store experience matches SOPs and training (what associates should do, in what order, and why).
  • Build role-based training plans (associates vs. managers), training materials, and a delivery schedule.
  • Deliver live training (in-person and remote), facilitate Q&A, and ensure store teams are confident ahead of go-live.
  • Own the rollout playbook: store readiness checklist, cutover plan, launch-day support, and post-launch hypercare.
  • Provide on-site support during rollout waves, triaging issues, and escalating appropriately to technical teams/vendors.
  • Embed with the project team for a portion of the project to understand POS requirements and client-specific customizations (Tim Silver).
  • Build enough understanding of what customizations exist and why so you can train and support the field rollout (without being the person who engineers them).
  • Support basic hardware setup/troubleshooting in-store (iPads, scanners, printers, payment devices) based on pre-selected standards.
  • Coordinate with the technical architect / IT for MDM, network, and infrastructure decisions (you are not the spec owner).
