About The Position

Positions Location: Lansing, MI Job Description General Purpose Provides patient financial file organization and essential customer contact. Essential Duties Maintains patient financial records/files, forms, and letter, including electronic methods. Performs errands, i.e. - obtains payment vouchers, open, sort, review, and distribute mail. Completes production report, retrieves patient histories for staff, and enter data into computer. Assemble and prepare for mailing, itemized bills, and patient statements. Maintains adequate stock of supplies for file, billing, and collection area. Operate various standard and/or automated office equipment (troubleshooting and vendor interactions of various office equipment, i.e., copier, printer, and fax machine). Answer incoming calls, respond to inquiries or appropriately make referral within the department or outside the hospital. Assume training and coordinates temporary associated job duties for the file area, including electronic methods. Performs other job-related duties as delegated.

Requirements

  • None.
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Demonstrates ability to accurately file records in a timely manner, including electronic files.
  • Demonstrates excellent organizational, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of CRT keyboard skills to process transactions.
  • Demonstrates excellent customer service skills.
  • Knowledge of office machines and computer programs (i.e. Excel & Word)
  • Demonstrates ability to use a keyboard as may be required to perform the essential duties of the job.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of medical terminology preferred
