About The Position

We are seeking a technical intern for our Noblis 2026 Summer Internship Program. Interns will be working with our Simulation and Visualization Research Center. This internship will provide an opportunity to work with a technical team of experienced software developers. Interns will work as members of a small research team. They will use Python based systems to simulate multi-agent systems, run experiments with the simulators, and help prepare research papers on the results. The ideal candidate is a strong Python programmer with a background in combinatorial optimization or multi-agent systems.

Requirements

  • Pursuing degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics, or related with a 3.3 GPA and at least one semester left in school
  • US Citizen
  • Strong self-organization and self-management skills, with emphasis on self-initiation and follow through.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Software Development Experience
  • Can implement complex algorithms
  • Is familiar with version control software
  • Comfortable working in an Agile development environment
  • Python Programming Experience
  • Is familiar with the virtual environments and pip.
  • Expertise in core scientific python libraries (e.g. numpy, pandas, and scipy)
  • Can effectively utilize and extend existing python code

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in programming visuals, such as graphs or games.
  • Experience in using JavaScript for creating dynamic browser-based analytic visuals
  • Experience working in Unix environment (e.g. bash, zsh)
  • Experience with multi-threaded programs.
  • Experience with geospatial software (e.g. CesiumJS, Google Earth)
  • Knowledge or research experience in multi-agent systems, combinatorial optimization, or simulation.
