About The Position

The Simulation Resource Coordinator will report to the Chair, Department of Nursing, and focus on Teaching Effectiveness inclusive of Research, Service, Professionalism, Use of Technology, and Content Expertise.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in nursing required.
  • Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing and Current Licensure to practice in a compact state.
  • Minimum 3 years of nursing practice, teaching or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of two (2) years teaching experience.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in nursing simulation and use of Laerdal and B-Line equipment preferred.
  • Unencumbered RN licensure.
  • Proof of active CPR certification administered by either the American Heart Association or The American Red Cross.
  • Self-motivated, flexible, and able to work in a team environment with minimal supervision.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to interact with students, leadership, and peers.
  • Excellent written communication and strong verbal communication skills in the English language.
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, Outlook).

Responsibilities

  • Lab/Simulation Coordination Provide instruction including demonstrations, guided practice, and skill evaluation for nursing students.
  • Orient full-time, part-time faculty, and students to lab/simulation, understand the use of human simulators and how to trouble shot equipment.
  • Assist in completing lab inventory and maintain supplies, coordinate nursing skills lab schedule, coordinate schedule for open lab, clinical, simulation, and debriefing rooms.
  • Assist in supervision of lab tutors and lab assistants, serves as the departments point-of-contact resources and provides timely and effective responses to simulation/lab requests from faculty, staff, community partners, etc.
  • Mentor faculty to ensure effective teaching and curriculum delivery by the entire team.
  • Assist faculty in scenario development by creating learning objectives based on specific course objectives and outcomes.
  • Develop simulation objectives focused on the nursing role of data interpreter, coordinator of care, and director of communication, organize and structure pre-briefing, scenario, and de-briefing activities.
  • Set simulation expectations by clarifying learning objectives, skills necessary for success, and evaluation of learning.
  • Familiarize faculty/students with equipment in the simulation room.
  • Review use of communication tolls, establish simulation as a safe and controlled environment in which faculty/students can perform newly acquired skills without fear of failure.
  • Adapt teaching methods based on the students' knowledge level, previous simulation experience, and learning needs.
