About The Position

The Corrugator Single Facer Operators are responsible for all activities associated with operating the single-facer and assisting in both wet-end and dry-end operations, including setup, operation, cleanup, and recommending improvements to meet customer demand in a manufacturing facility that turns recycled paper into sheets of corrugated board and delivers them to our customers.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Prior work experience in the corrugated industry.
  • 6 months experience on the dry end of the corrugator.
  • 6 months experience on the wet end of the corrugator
  • Able to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
  • Able to read a tape measure with speed and accuracy.
  • Able to calculate figures and amounts such as percentages, measurement, volume and rate.
  • Able to apply concepts of high school math.
  • Equipment design and capabilities that can be translated into efficient operation.
  • Cost issues in order to make daily decisions that will reduce overall costs and will help the supervisor find areas that require improvement.
  • Quality standards.
  • Regulatory requirements including but not limited to wage and hour requirements, environmental and waste minimization, company policies, and personnel requirements including OSHA, DEQ and EEO.
  • May be required to maintain a current Lift Truck Operator License.
  • regularly required to stand, walk, and talk or hear.
  • frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Responsibilities

  • Operate the single-facers to produce the highest level of production and quality.
  • Check wet end line-ups to verify the correct roll stock is received and used.
  • Put rolls of paper in mill roll stands ensuring proper size and grade of paper to run and make splices and paper changes as necessary.
  • Trim only the necessary amount of paper from the rolls when preparing for splices.
  • Remove roll stock from the machine when necessary and mark the proper size, grade, diameter, and lineal footage on the roll and place core plugs in each end of the butt rolls.
  • Continuously monitor the board during runs to ensure quality and make adjustments as necessary
  • Turn in maintenance work orders to supervision for needed repairs.
  • Clean starch pan, glue roll, and single-facer area after changing glues and at the end of the production week.
  • Take all paper off cores of stub rolls.
  • Assist in the wet-end training of the double-backer and dry-end personnel.
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures, including safety and maintaining good housekeeping.
  • Additional duties may be assigned by management.
