About The Position

The SIPP Lead Nurse RN is responsible for ensuring the seamless delivery of healthcare services to clients, with a focus on medication management, compliance, and coordination of medical appointments. This position serves as a liaison between physicians, SIPP nurses, clients, pharmacies, and case managers to support optimal patient outcomes.  In addition, the Lead Nurse is responsible for carrying out medical and nursing assessments, physician’s orders, administration of medications and providing assistance where needed.

Requirements

  • Active RN license in good standing
  • Associate’s degree required or greater
  • 3+ years of Psychiatric Nursing experience, working with at-risk youth in a residential / hospital setting
  • Active Florida Driver’s License, in good standing
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Proficient in computer programs and software

Responsibilities

  • Orders all client medications in a timely, accurate manner.
  • Review pharmacy invoices for accuracy and compliance.
  • Sends Medication Administration Records (MARs) to appropriate parties
  • Requests MAR’s from pharmacy monthly.
  • Participates in TPU’s and Rounds with physicians and completes all related documentation.
  • Assists with onboarding new programmatic nurses through shadowing and training.
  • Serves as on-call support for the nursing staff
  • Responsible for nursing scheduling
  • Completes regular chart audits for nursing and physicians in electronic medical record.
  • Ensures all outside, routine medical/dental appointments are scheduled and communicated effectively.
  • Actively participates in treatment planning of clients.
  • Administers medications in a safe manner and document administration.
  • Consistently maintains client confidentiality and agency security policies.
  • Ensures that documentation in client’s files, nursing log and other sources (e.g. Incident reports and ESI form) are accurate and completed in agency prescribed guidelines.
  • Adheres to established guidelines for assessing, documenting and observing clients for seclusion/restraint or other special precautions.
  • Contacts the agency Psychiatrist(s) when necessary for orders or consultation as it pertains to treatment of the client.
  • Recognize, reports, document and seeks appropriate intervention for signs and symptoms of complications or change in status.
  • Effectively and appropriately set limits that are appropriate to the situation.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of the client needs based on the age and functioning level of the client.
  • Executes sound judgment by effectively analyzing problems, determining appropriate actions and utilizing timely and logical decision making skills.
  • Models appropriate and professional appearance.
  • Relates with clients, parents, peers, and the general public in a respectful, positive and professional manner.
  • Works effectively as a team member.
  • Displays a willingness to work on varying assignments.
  • Demonstrates ability to function independently to include follow through with assigned tasks
  • Provides proper notification for absences and tardiness.
  • Displays adaptability to changes in the work duties or settings, including being open to new ideas and approaches to current tasks.
