About The Position

AECOM is seeking a Site/ C ivil Engineering Intern to be based in Tampa, FL . This position is expected to begin in April or Early May 2026. Internships at AECOM offer students in undergraduate and graduate programs the opportunity to gain valuable hands-on experience in engineering, design, and infrastructure projects that make a real-world impact. Our Tampa team focuses on providing design services for development projects for a vast variety of markets, projects, and clients locally, domestically, and internationally. Types of projects may include commercial mixed-use developments, parks and recreation projects, operations and warehouse centers, education and institutional projects, industrial facilities, military facilities and base developments, utilities, and airport facilities, among many others.

Requirements

  • Candidates must be pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university with the intent to continue enrollment after the internship and must have completed at least 1 year of study.
  • Candidates who have recently graduated with a bachelor’s degree and plan to continue with a master’s degree are eligible to apply for these positions.
  • Recent graduates must have been enrolled in their bachelor’s degree in the most previous school term with an interest in pursuing an advanced degree in the same or similar discipline at the conclusion of the internship.
  • Due to the nature of the work, US Citizenship is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Prior internship experience is a plus.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office programs.
  • Experience with AutoCAD is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Internships are designed to introduce and build essential, hands-on skills that differ from those attained in the academic arena and help to enhance the transition from student to professional.
  • Interns are assigned duties that will provide a broad, well-rounded learning experience within their civil engineering field of study.
  • Will work with junior and senior level engineers on a variety of site/civil engineering projects to gain experience with project collaboration and communication, due diligence/data collection, AutoCAD/AutoCAD Civil 3D and Microsoft Office products, various civil aspects of design (site development/layout, grading and drainage, utilities, erosion control, details), construction plans preparation, site/civil permitting, etc.
