Requirements

  • Proven experience in planning within a construction‑related field, including at least five (5) years of on‑site experience on industrial projects.
  • Strong proficiency in a planning software tool, Microsoft Project or Primavera P6, for building and managing project schedules and resources.
  • Knowledge of construction project planning principles, techniques, and methodologies.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and understand interdependencies between different disciplines (mechanical, electrical, piping, etc.).
  • Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to anticipate and reduce planning‑related conflicts and risks.
  • Strong leadership with proactive and collaborative communication skills.
  • Fluency in French and ability to communicate in English.
  • Ability and willingness to travel to project sites in Québec (up to 100% of the time, according to established rotation schedules).

Nice To Haves

  • Experience on hydropower projects.
  • Knowledge of Lean Construction principles and the Last Planner System.
  • Knowledge of Earned Value Management (EVM) and progress measurement techniques.
  • Certification in planning or project management (e.g. PMI‑SP, PMP, AACE‑PSP).

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain detailed, resource‑loaded construction schedules in Primavera P6 (Level 4–5).
  • Coordinate daily and weekly planning with site teams to logically sequence the work and optimize resource utilization.
  • Prepare and lead short‑term planning meetings, such as lookahead schedules and Last Planner sessions, to align site teams and subcontractors.
  • Lead short‑term planning meetings (lookaheads, Last Planner sessions), provide clear leadership in these forums, and maintain an action log of execution constraints to ensure follow‑up and resolution.
  • Monitor physical progress, earned value, and productivity, including S‑curves; update schedules according to actual site conditions and quickly identify schedule risks.
  • Identify and analyze variances between planned and actual work, and propose mitigation or recovery measures.
  • Review technical drawings and single‑line diagrams to identify construction interfaces, access constraints, and sequencing risks.
  • Support the preparation of schedule‑related claims, including impact and delay analyses, in accordance with contract provisions.
  • Prepare schedule reports and S‑curves for project management and customer reviews, while maintaining an up‑to‑date register of planning constraints and delays.
  • Provide clear and efficient schedule updates to project management and customer representatives, highlighting progress, risks, and recovery plans.
