About The Position

ITAV is a beacon for educating and loving Black children. We provide a comprehensive, culturally responsive social justice education and life-empowering social services. At ITAV, learning is fun and transformative, teaching is innovative, and knowledge is not bound by the walls of the classroom. Students, staff, and families are empowered to be civically engaged and make positive change by addressing local, national, and global issues. The Site Director oversees an ITAV early childcare center and ensures a safe and nurturing environment for all children, implements policies and procedures to be in compliance with regulations at all times, and maintains high-quality standards of care. This includes supervising the teachers, teacher assistants, admin staff, kitchen staff, and custodial staff. As a main point of contact for families, staff, stakeholders, vendors, and visitors, the Site Director will embody the ITAV values and cultivate a welcoming environment. This Site Director will report directly to the Early Childhood Education (ECE) Operations Manager. The ideal candidate will exemplify our commitment to nurturing not just cognitive but holistic development in an environment steeped in love and respect for the cultural identities of all our students.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field.
Currently has a Level I Director’s Credential
2+ years of experience in a leadership role, preferably in education or a community-based setting.
You are a compassionate individual who prioritizes the well-being and needs of young children.
You have a strong knowledge of Illinois daycare licensing regulations, Head Start standards and the IL 407 Daycare Licensing Rules.
You have excellent leadership and communication skills that translate to all audiences including staff members, parents, and regulatory agencies.
You are an adept manager with a talent for multitasking, flexibility, and working collaboratively within teams to achieve common goals.
As a strategic leader, you possess a proven track record in elevating organizational performance and fostering a culture of success at the site level
You are a resourceful and innovative problem-solver, skilled at navigating complex community dynamics and effectively addressing multifaceted challenges to drive positive change.

Responsibilities

Build a team of passionate educators committed to culturally responsive and inclusive practices, delivering high-quality teaching, and fostering a safe and nurturing environment for our children.
Ensure adherence to the ITAV policies and procedures, Head Start Standards, IL DCFS 407 Daycare Licensing Rules and NAEYC Standards.
Develop, implement, and monitor policies, procedures, and safety protocols to uphold childcare quality and regulatory compliance.
Maintain benchmarks for quality care that include child development, safety, and parent satisfaction.
Provide supervision, coaching, and mentorship to all staff on site and foster a culture of continuous learning among staff.
Ensure accurate documentation of licensing activities and collaborate with management to streamline processes.
Manage administrative tasks such as scheduling, budgeting, and record-keeping for childcare operations.
Ensure the kitchen is in compliance with the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) program.
Foster positive relationships with parents through regular communication, monthly parent meetings, and soliciting feedback for areas of improvement.
