Site Safety & Health Officer (SSHO)
Location: Albany, GA
Duration: 18+ Months (Start: Immediate Need)
Type: 1099 Contractor
Position Details
Hourly Rate: $55-60/hr
Per Diem: $125/day (7 days per week)
Completion Bonus: $150/month
Pay Frequency: Weekly
Schedule: Monday-Friday | 40-50 hrs/week
Project Scope
The SSHO will oversee all site safety during the construction of an Army Reserve Center, coordinating safety efforts across multiple trades.

Requirements

• EM 385-1-1 certification
• 10 years of experience on USACE/NAVFAC sites
• CPR/First Aid certification
• Must be able to use a computer and be familiar with submitting paperwork to USACE (RMS).
• Strong public speaking and communication abilities
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)
• Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively
• Professionalism and discretion with sensitive information
• In-depth understanding of EHS and industry regulatory standards
• Ability to effectively communicate safety principles and enforce compliance

Responsibilities

• Conduct regular SSHO audits, inspections, and risk assessments
• Safety reporting via RMS and RFI to the USACE
• Support incident investigations, reporting, and corrective action implementation
• Deliver safety training and orientation for employees, subcontractors, and new hires
• Collaborate with project teams to proactively identify and mitigate risks
• Maintain accurate safety performance, incident, and compliance documentation
• Promote a safety-first culture across all project levels
