2025/2026 Ski Patroller
About The Position
In coordination and cooperation with the Ski Patrol Director, Assistant Directors, Hill Chiefs and Resort Management, the Ski Patroller will provide a variety of safety, risk management, rescue, and medical services to the Resort. These will include: open and closing procedures, hazard mitigation and marking, medical training, lift evacuation, maintenance of patrol equipment, first aid and medical care, documentation, dispatching procedures, and guest services. The Ski Patroller will be a good ambassador for the resort, assist in creating a positive guest experience, and nurture a team atmosphere for all staff.
Requirements
- Experience in ski patrolling or similar venues for one year.
- Current BLS for the Healthcare Provider (CPR) certification, or equivalent.
- Current Outdoor Emergency Care (OEC) Certification
- Computer skills (Google platform, web-based applications, etc.)
- Communicate clearly using a variety of methods; verbal, written, radios, text, tc.)
- Needs to be self motivated, and willing to accept and learn from reflection and feedback.
- Must be a solid Level II+ skier or snowboarder and pass ski testing.
- Must be able to stand, bend, climb, lift, twist, reach, push and pull repetitively.
- Must be able to safely ski or ride all ski trails at the Berkshire East Mountain Resort.
- Must be able to pass and safely operate rescue toboghans under National Ski Patrol Outdoor Emergency Transportation (OET) Standards.
- Must be able to operate a variety of equipment including vehicles, side-by-side UTVs, ATVs and snowmobiles.
- Must be mentally attentive and focused at all times.
- Must be able to adapt to climate and work in extreme weather conditions.
- Applicants must be at least age 18
- CORI background check required prior to being hired.
Responsibilities
- Create a safer mountain experience for our employees and guests.
- Operate safely at all times..
- Attend morning meetings with other ski patrol staff.
- Communicate and coordinate with the Patrol Hill Chief.
- Communicate and coordinate with resort management.
- Support and implement ski patrol procedures and policies.
- Hazard mitigation and marking.
- Assist with incident investigations
- Provide emergency medical and rescue response for illness and injuries.
- Provide high quality customer and guest services.
- Support and implement required data collection and reporting.
- Perform lift and mountain evacuations when necessary.
- Assist with special events at the resort as needed.
