About The Position

The Early Childhood Education Instructor will deliver high-quality instruction for the Richmond Campus’s early childhood education programs, including CDA training and skills training. This position plays a vital role in supporting workforce development efforts by offering flexible, on-demand instruction for childcare organizations and community partners.

Requirements

  • A qualified faculty member in early childhood education meets the program standard through: An earned master’s or higher degree, from a regionally accredited institution, in early childhood education, child development; or An earned master’s or higher degree, from a regionally accredited institution with 18 graduate credit hours in courses closely related to early childhood education and development, with academic preparation appropriate to the course and /or specialty being taught; and
  • Possesses one of the following: Professional certification in the field; or Two years of directly related work experience in the field of early childhood - birth through age 8.
  • Hold a CDA Professional Development Specialist credential (PD Specialist is what it commonly referred to as) and that is granted by the CDA Council and fairly easy process to go through if you hold degrees in ECE: https://www.cdacouncil.org/en/

  • Experience providing on-site instruction for childcare centers or community-based training.

Responsibilities

  • Teach assigned Early Childhood Education skills training sessions in person, online, or on-site at partner organizations.
  • Design engaging, relevant instructional activities aligned with state standards and credentialing requirements.
  • Support students in developing professional competencies needed for success in early childhood environments.
  • Collaborate with the Employer Training Coordinators and campus leadership to schedule and deliver training based on community demand.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress, attendance, and credential completion.
  • Serve as an ambassador for the Richmond Campus’s early childhood education initiatives.
