About The Position

Set up and operate slitter machinery according to customer specifications and work orders. Perform daily tasks including but not limited to set up, tear down, operate, clean, and troubleshoot.

Requirements

  • One to Three years related experience or equivalent
  • Reading, analyzing, and interpreting technical procedures, manuals, and manufacturing documents
  • Experience in related machinery to load, unload, and lift roll product
  • Basic level of computer knowledge in Microsoft Office
  • Commitment to excellence and high standards
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills
  • Ability to manage priorities and workflow
  • Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm

Responsibilities

  • Set-up and operate the slitting/rewinding machine
  • Follow work order and traveler instructions for all jobs
  • Use proper controls to regulate and synchronize the speed of the machine
  • Observe operation of machine to detect and correct machine malfunctions as necessary to prevent production problems
  • Examine completed products to detect defects and prevent sub-standard product from being shipped
  • Ensure that the equipment is properly maintained
  • Ensure the maintenance logs, reports or other metric related records are properly maintained
  • Troubleshoot and resolve problems to maintain production of a good quality product
  • Responsible to load, unload, bag, label, and package finished products in accordance with company standards and procedures
  • Ensure that all materials and products in the production area and warehouse areas are properly labeled and double-bagged at all times and put in their proper location
  • Work in collaboration with warehouse to ensure they are aware of orders that are being produced for shipment
  • Conduct daily cleaning of equipment and surrounding production area
  • Responsible to show competency and cross training on all print department equipment including, but not limited to: Wide web press, narrow web press, slitter, anilox cleaners, core cutter, forklifts, floor lifts, pallet jacks, etc.
  • Manuel work may include, but is not limited to roll changes, splicing in new rolls, removing finished rolls, labeling rolls, mixing inks, mixing adhesives, etc.
  • Assist other operators in set-ups, clean-ups, and teardowns when time permits
  • Maintain smooth production by replenishing necessary supplies such as staging rolls, securing packaging supplies and waste removal
  • Perform minor and routine maintenance on the equipment
  • Assist in trouble shooting problems
  • Communicates need for minor and major repairs to the appropriate manager
  • Participates or observes major repairs or modifications of equipment as directed by managers
  • Makes recommendations to improve operations and/or implement savings opportunities
  • Follows facility safety policies and procedures
  • Ensures a clean and safe working environment is maintained
  • Possesses and maintains a high level of competency and efficiency in all aspects of department operations
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by management
