About The Position

GE Aerospace is seeking a highly skilled Systems Engineer to join our team, focusing on Configuration Management, Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), and Requirements Management. This role will be instrumental in advancing our systems engineering practices and ensuring the integrity of our complex aerospace systems for Small Uncrewed Engines. Systems engineering is a cross-functional engineering discipline centered on an approach, mindset, and process. All activities that consider both the business and the technical needs of the customers with the goal of providing a quality product that meets the users needs. The discipline that executes a robust process of design, creation, and optimization of systems, consisting of identification and quantification of system requirements, creation of alternate system design concepts, performance of design trade studies, selection and implementation of the best designs and verification that the design is properly integrated and executed. This role is a full time, in person, position at GE Aerospace's Evendale campus. Limited remote work to promote flexibility is available on an as-needed basis. US Domestic travel is required (approximately 10 times per year, 2-3 days at a time). This role impacts approaches, projects and programs in the functional area or affected business organization and ways of working. Impacts quality, efficiency and effectiveness of own team. Has significant input into priorities. Guided by professional practices and policies that are shaped by the role. The role has moderate autonomy, requiring high levels of operational judgment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related field; Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 6 years of experience in systems engineering; at least 2 of those years' experience within the aerospace industry.
  • Demonstrated expertise in configuration management, MBSE, risk management, and requirements management.
  • Proficiency in using CAMEO Systems Modeler or other SysML-based tools.
  • Strong understanding of aerospace and/or turbomachinery systems and subsystems.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to present complex technical information to diverse audiences.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • This role requires the successful candidate to maintain a US Government Security Clearance; prerequisite for a security clearance is U.S. Citizenship.
  • This role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information. Therefore, employment will be contingent upon the ability to prove that you meet the status of a U.S. Person as one of the following: U.S. lawful permanent resident, U.S. Citizen, have been granted asylee or refugee status (i.e., a protected individual under the Immigration and Naturalization Act, 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)).

Responsibilities

  • Lead the implementation and maintenance of configuration management processes across multiple projects and programs.
  • Develop and optimize Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) practices using SysML and CAMEO software.
  • Manage and refine requirements throughout the development cycle, ensuring traceability and compliance.
  • Drives validation and verification activities for the overall product/system, including system level testing.
  • Responsible for defining product requirements for the module / component / subcontractors and partners teams.
  • Manages interface between components and execution organizations.
  • Responsible for driving CTQ / Risk trades within the teams designing the components.
  • Manages the overall product configuration and configuration control system.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate systems engineering best practices into product development processes, including standards for configuration management and MBSE.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentoring to junior engineers in systems engineering methodologies.
  • Serves as best practice/quality resource.
  • Has awareness of latest technical developments in own area.
  • Contributes towards strategy and policy development, and ensure delivery within area of responsibility.
  • Uses judgment to make decisions or solve moderately complex tasks or problems in areas of operational/product management, manufacturing, technology or engineering.
  • Takes new perspective on existing solutions.
  • Uses technical experience and expertise for data analysis to support recommendations.
  • Uses multiple internal and limited external sources outside of own function to arrive at decisions.
