About The Position

Perform manual labor in the maintenance and construction of City’s sanitary and combined sewer system. May operate heavy equipment as needed. No supervisory or budgetary responsibilities.

Requirements

Ability to follow oral instructions and carry out assigned tasks.
Valid Class “B” Commercial Driver’s License with Tanker endorsement or the ability to obtain within 90 days of employment.
Ability to work in confined spaces.
Skills in building forms, pouring and finishing concrete.
Knowledge of City geography and street location.
Knowledge of proper barricading & traffic control procedures.
High school diploma or equivalent required or must be able to obtain within 6 months.

Nice To Haves

6 months to one year’s experience in a related field preferred.

Responsibilities

Mixes mortar and assist in laying brick and blocks.
Assists with the construction of concrete forms and performs concrete finish work.
Required to be on call and/or carry a pager and responds to emergencies as needed.
Cleans sewer lines and inlets.
Assists in repairing, rebuilding, and replacing inlets and manholes.
Operates jack hammer, dump truck and jet truck
Cut brushes and weeds.
Trims trees and branches as needed.
Performs utility is located as needed.
Maintains regular and reliable attendance.
Assists in excavating and repairing broken pipe.
Drives snowplow and or salt spreader as needed.
Performs all other related duties as assigned.
