About The Position

The Happier Life Project is recruiting a Social Work Intern for its Elevate Youth California program. This paid, part-time internship is designed for students pursuing careers in social work, human services, or behavioral health. POSITION OVERVIEW The Social Work Intern supports youth-centered programming and community engagement activities while developing foundational skills in trauma-informed care, professional boundaries, and client support. Interns assist with group-based programming, outreach, and resource navigation while gaining exposure to community-based support services and peer-led prevention programs. This internship provides hands-on experience in youth engagement, group facilitation, and community resource coordination.

Requirements

  • Applicants are typically: College juniors or seniors Community college students preparing to transfer Recent graduates (within the last 2–3 years)
  • Youth with lived experience, peer support backgrounds, or community leadership experience may be considered in place of formal education.
  • This role is part of a grant-funded workforce development program designed for young adults ages 18–26. Applicants must meet the grant’s eligibility criteria to be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with planning and co-facilitating youth groups and workshops
  • Support outreach and follow-up communication with program participants
  • Help identify and organize community resources for youth and families
  • Assist with documentation and program records under staff supervision
  • Support group engagement and youth participation during activities
  • Participate in outreach events, workshops, and prevention programming
  • Assist with community resource mapping and referral support
  • Maintain professional boundaries and confidentiality in all participant interactions
  • Participate in supervision, training, and professional development activities
