About The Position

The Social Work Intern provides for the social and emotional development of students and their families under the direction of district School Social Workers.

Requirements

• EDUCATION Enrollment in an approved Master of Social Work Program and successfully completing any prerequisite coursework and field-based placements.
• Highly organized
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills
• Excellent problem-solver
• Should be able to work with students with a history of behavior or learning problems.

Nice To Haves

• Experience working with school-age children preferred

Responsibilities

• Provide casework, group work, coordination/outreach, and consultation to children, parents, school, and community personnel
• Provide crisis intervention to school-age children and their families
• Establish and maintain home-school ties
• Participate in special education evaluation and services determination, including adaptive behavior assessment and social developmental studies
• Cooperate as an interdisciplinary team member with school and community personnel
• Observe students in classrooms for evaluation and problem-solving purposes
• Engage in staff organization, training, and growth through group social work meetings
• Collaborate with school social workers and building staff regarding the implementation of social and emotional curriculum and methods
• Other duties as assigned
