Social Worker - Behavioral Health - Inpatient Psychiatry – Dual Diagnosis /Substance Use Rehab Unit In this role you’ll serve as psychiatric social worker for patients and their families, providing clinical social work services such as psychiatric and psychosocial assessments, therapeutic interventions, psycho-education, family intervention, patient advocacy, and discharge planning tailored to the needs of patients. This is a full-time day shift, Monday through Friday 8:00 am- 4:30 pm position located at NewYork-Presbyterian/Westchester Behavioral Health.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree in Social Work (MSW)
  • Licensed Masters Social Work (LMSW) by the state of NY within 1 year of hire
  • Limited Permit (must supply exam date prior to start of employment)
  • Fieldwork or previous experience in a psychiatric setting
  • Form a therapeutic relationship with patients and maintain a neutral therapeutic stance
  • Knowledge base of bio-psychosocial model, Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders IV (DSM-IV) diagnoses, criteria for treatment of different diagnoses in an acute care setting, behavioral risk factors and of the impact of mental illness upon individual and family functioning
  • Competency in individual, family and group treatment modalities and treatment techniques appropriate to an inpatient treatment setting
  • Conduct initial evaluations and psychosocial assessments and to establish individualized and measurable treatment goals
  • Knowledge base of community and discharge planning resources and processes
  • Effective organizational skills to manage clinical, discharge planning and documentation requirements within assigned LOS of inpatient hospitalization
  • Communicate effectively and to collaborate within an interdisciplinary team; demonstrated self-awareness to identify learning needs and capacity to apply supervisory feedback into practice
