About The Position

The Social Worker – Float serves as a flexible member of the inpatient behavioral health social services team, providing coverage across units as needed to ensure continuity of care. This role includes conducting psychosocial assessments, participating in admissions and discharges, collaborating with the interdisciplinary treatment team, and facilitating a minimum of two therapeutic groups daily. The Social Worker Float contributes to a structured therapeutic milieu while supporting patients through stabilization and discharge planning. This position operates on a Tuesday–Saturday or Sunday–Thursday schedule and may support multiple levels of care as assigned and trained. We offer inpatient, IOP, and PHP services, serving both adult and geriatric populations. KCBM is a joint venture between National Health Corporation (NHC), Tennova Healthcare, and the University of Tennessee Medical Center – Knoxville.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s in Social Work required
  • Strong skills in brief therapeutic intervention, crisis stabilization, treatment planning, and interdisciplinary collaboration required

Nice To Haves

  • ACSW preferred
  • Minimum of one year of experience in inpatient and/or acute behavioral health preferred
  • Group facilitation experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive psychosocial assessments within required timeframes
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans with measurable short-term goals
  • Provide brief, goal-oriented individual therapeutic interventions
  • Facilitate a minimum of two psychoeducational or process groups daily, covering topics such as emotion regulation, distress tolerance, relapse prevention, and recovery planning
  • Deliver crisis intervention and de-escalation support in collaboration with nursing and medical staff
  • Conduct brief family or support system sessions focused on stabilization and discharge readiness
  • Coordinate with outpatient providers and support systems (with patient consent) to promote continuity of care
  • Observe and assess patient engagement and progress, modifying interventions as needed
  • Actively participate in interdisciplinary treatment team meetings
  • Communicate patient progress, psychosocial needs, and discharge readiness
  • Collaborate with psychiatry, nursing, utilization management, and other disciplines
  • Communicate with families, guardians, and community providers as appropriate
  • Complete all required clinical documentation, including assessments, treatment plans, group notes, updates, and discharge summaries within established timeframes
  • Ensure compliance with internal, CMS, DNV, and State regulatory standards
  • Participate in quality assurance and performance improvement initiatives
