Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the position as necessary. Provide suitable licensed foster homes for youths who have been separated from their families and placed in agency custody. Identify appropriate placement for youths who enter custody through the Department of Social Services or need replacement after disruption. Conduct mutual home assessments; assess strengths and needs of resource parents; provide training and supervision to resource parents; submit information to the state for initial licensure, relicensure, termination, change, and transfer of the foster home license. Facilitate the NC approved preservice curriculum to resource parent applicants.

Requirements

  • Considerable knowledge of social work principles, techniques, practices and their application to individual casework group work and community problems.
  • Knowledge of the psychosocial, socioeconomic and behaivoral problems and their treatment.
  • Knowledge of governmental and private organizations and community resources.
  • Knowlege of laws, regulations and policies which govern the program.
  • General knowlege of medical terminology, disease processes and thier treatment is required in certain programs or settings.
  • Skill in establishing rapport with a client and applying techniques of assessing psychosocial, behavioral, and psychological aspects of client's problem.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with adminitrative superiors, members of case load and their families, and with civic, medical, social and religious organizations.
  • Ability to facility NTDC and Deciding Together to protential resource parents.
  • Ability to express ideas clearly and concisely and to plan and execute work.
  • Ability to use critical thinking skills to solve problems
  • Bachelor's degree in social work from an appropriately accredited institution; bachelor's degree in a human services field from an appropriately accredited institution and one year of directly related experience; bachelor's degree from an appropriately accredited institution and two years directly related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Requires a valid North Carolina driver's license and acceptable driving record.
