The Raytheon team is seeking a skilled Software Engineer to support the X-Band Radar (XBR) Agile Release Train (ART). XBR is the world’s largest solid-state X-Band Phased Array radar. Sea-Based X-Band (SBX) is located on a semi-submersible platform that can be tactically relocated to provide optimal coverage for defense of the homeland. This position is onsite in Woburn, Massachusetts at the Missile Defense Center (MDC).
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain software code in Ada and C++ for radar algorithm implementation, ensuring high performance and reliability.
- Design and implement graphical user interfaces (GUIs) using Qt for radar systems, enhancing user experience and interaction.
- Design, develop, and test Radar software in an agile, collaborative environment, ultimately delivering build releases to the Radar site.
- Participate in agile execution and continuous improvement.
- Work collaboratively with Systems and System Integration & Test (SI&T) engineers to analyze, develop, and test system requirement modifications to the existing Radar system baseline.
- Work closely with stakeholders, including other engineering teams, program leadership, and the customer to refine the product backlog and ensure team priorities are aligned with program execution and release dates.
- Develop software in a Continuous Integration / Continuous Development (CI/CD) environment.
Requirements
- Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or other STEM related field.
- A minimum of 2 years of relevant software development experience.
- Experience in developing complex systems and applications using Ada, C/C++, Java, or another object-oriented programming language.
- The ability to obtain an Interim Secret U.S. government-issued security clearance prior to start date.
- U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
- Some experience in developing back-end, full-stack or embedded software development.
- Experience working in agile or similar methodologies.

- Experience with multithreading, memory management, and performance optimization in complex environments.
- Strong understanding of data structures, algorithms, and software design principles.
- Well-developed communication, technical writing, oral presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of and ability to work within the Agile Scrum development practice.
- Experience contributing to a team environment for the purpose of developing creative solutions to complex technical problems.
- Ability to work in a fast paced, dynamic environment with time-critical requirements.
- Ability to promote a culture of continuous learning, cross-team collaboration and training.
- Active Secret security clearance.
