The Smart Home team is focused on making Alexa the user interface for the home. From the simplest voice commands (turn on the lights, turn down the heat) to use cases spanning home security, home entertainment, and the home environment, we are evolving Alexa into an intelligent, indispensable companion that automates daily routines, simplifies interactions with appliances and electronics, and alerts when something unusual is detected. Responsibilities

  • Android/iOS/React Native development
  • Backend software development, design, and prototyping
  • Contribute best-in-class programming skills to develop highly innovative, consumer-facing distributed system backend architectures
  • Write clean, maintainable code and perform peer code reviews
  • Write tests for new and existing code to achieve 100% code coverage
  • Work with team members to investigate design approaches, prototype new technology, and evaluate technical feasibility
  • Work in an Agile/Scrum environment to deliver high-quality software
  • Work closely with partner teams to provide the best-in-class developer experience

Requirements

  • 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
  • 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
  • Experience programming with at least one software programming language

Nice-to-haves

  • 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
