About the position

We are responsible for the tax calculation platform, providing the core services that calculate taxes (sales tax and VAT) for all Amazon sales, physical and digital, globally. We are looking for software engineers who thrive on complex problems. Our systems manage hundreds of millions of records, and respond to millions of service requests per minute. The successful candidate is expected to contribute to all parts of the software development and deployment lifecycle in our Java, Linux and Oracle-based environment. Duties will include design, development, documentation, testing and operations.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to all parts of the software development and deployment lifecycle
- Design and develop software solutions
- Document software designs and processes
- Test software to ensure reliability and performance
- Operate and maintain software systems in a production environment
Requirements
- 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture experience (design patterns, reliability and scaling)
- Experience programming with at least one software programming language
Nice-to-haves
- 3+ years of full software development life cycle experience, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
