About The Position

PACCAR Electronics is seeking a talented and motivated engineering student to join our Summer 2026 Internship Program as a Software Development Intern . Job Overview PACCAR Electronics is looking for curious, creative, and motivated individuals with a passion for new technologies and an interest in automotive embedded systems. Our interns gain significant ownership of real engineering projects and work directly with experienced engineers across disciplines. The ideal candidate is eager to learn, adaptable, and a strong communicator who thrives in collaborative environments. You will collaborate with an international, cross-functional team focused on driving superior technical solutions.

Requirements

  • Third or fourth year of bachelor’s degree completed (graduation date 2026 – 2027) in one of the following STEM disciplines: Engineering (Mechatronics, Electrical, Software, Computer, Mechanical), Science, or a related STEM discipline.
  • Strong independence, motivation, and analytical thinking; excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving ability and enthusiasm for developing innovative engineering solutions.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, highly collaborative environment.
  • Proficiency with standard office and documentation tools.
  • Ability to learn quickly, adopt new processes, and solve complex technical challenges.
  • Commitment to delivering high-quality, reliable work.
  • A growth‑oriented mindset with strong initiative and results focus.

Nice To Haves

  • Enrollment in a Master’s program preferred.
  • Experience with one or more programming languages (e.g., MATLAB/Simulink, C++, C#).
  • Understanding of hardware/firmware interaction and embedded systems concepts.
  • Participation in engineering clubs (EcoCAR, Formula SAE, SARP, etc.).
  • Knowledge of electrical/electronic systems, architectures, or software‑driven functionality.
  • Basic experience with Python programming.
  • Familiarity with Git and version control workflows.
  • Interest in CI/CD pipelines, Jenkins, YAML scripting, and data visualization tools.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to a multi-disciplinary engineering team (electrical, mechanical, software, safety, and systems engineers) to support high‑quality commercial vehicle designs and systems integration.
  • Apply project management processes to maintain project schedule, milestones, and functional delivery.
  • Support development of industry-leading reliability and quality across components and systems.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements and deliver user-friendly, maintainable software solutions.
  • Analyze system requirements to influence software architecture and design decisions.
  • Develop, document, and maintain engineering specifications for new vehicle control functions.
  • Partner with cross-divisional teams to drive cohesive global design direction.
  • Assist in validation and verification activities with internal teams and suppliers.
