About The Position

Lockheed Martin is seeking an Entry‑Level Software Engineer Associate to design, develop, and implement a modern software framework for the F‑35 Ground Systems Mission Planning Environment (MPE) project. The MPE is a critical component of the F‑35 program, enabling all ground‑based operations and playing a vital role in the successful execution of missions and overall operation of the aircraft. As a member of the F‑35 Ground Systems MPE Software team, the successful candidate will assist in analyzing software requirements, contributing to software design, developing code, and supporting testing and implementation of software applications. This role requires a basic understanding of software development principles, a willingness to learn, and the ability to work collaboratively with cross‑functional teams. Who You Are The successful candidate will demonstrate an emerging understanding of industry techniques within their area of specialization, applying fundamental concepts and principles to develop solutions to problems of limited scope and complexity. You will work under regular guidance and periodic review to ensure the adequacy of judgment, overall accuracy, and quality, and you will contribute to organizational projects and goals. Your responsibilities will include assisting in the development of software solutions, participating in code reviews, and collaborating with immediate team members and a few external contacts to support effective problem resolution. You will also represent the team on specific tasks, contributing to collaboration and issue resolution. Additionally, you will help analyze user requirements, assist in designing and developing software applications, and support testing and implementation of software solutions. You will participate in end‑to-end integration activities, help evaluate system performance against functional standards, and implement basic algorithms to meet system requirements. The ideal candidate will possess practical experience in software development (up to 3 months, such as internships, co‑ops, or academic projects), a solid foundation in software design principles, basic coding skills, and strong communication, problem‑solving, and collaboration abilities. You will demonstrate a commitment to delivering high‑quality solutions, a desire to grow technically, and a readiness to contribute to the success of the F‑35 Ground Systems MPE team. Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen. This position is located at a facility that requires special access and an interim Secret clearance to start.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field required, or expected to be completed within six (6) months of offer.
  • This is a hands-on role that requires 3+ months of overall Software development experience
  • Object oriented design and development experience
  • Experience in Web-based design using ReactJS
  • Or automation tools (Ansible, Python, puppet, Or Terraform) Or containerized applications (Kubernetes, Docker, microservices).
  • Ability to analyze problems and work with others to find practical solutions
  • Effective teamwork and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate with colleagues and leadership
  • Desire for continuous learning self-improvement

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Mission Planning Environment (MPE)
  • Experience in Test automation using Robot and Cypress frameworks.
  • Working experience of cloud environments such as AWS or Azure
  • Experience in DevSecOps, including CI/CD, with a strong understanding of security and compliance principles.
  • Experience implementing and maintaining automation technologies and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) services
