About the position

The Microsoft Silicon Engineering Solutions and Cloud Hardware Infrastructure Engineering (SCHIE) team is responsible for developing and delivering the hardware and firmware that powers Microsoft's 'Intelligent Cloud' mission. SCHIE delivers the core infrastructure and foundational technologies for Microsoft's over 200 online businesses including Bing, MSN, Office 365, Xbox Live, Skype, OneDrive, and the Microsoft Azure platform globally with our server and data center infrastructure, security and compliance, operations, globalization, and manageability solutions. Our focus is on smart growth, high efficiency, and delivering trusted experience to customers and partners worldwide. The Azure Non-Public Clouds team supports all the functions and services for the SCHIE team in the non-public installations. This is to support the HKMS team which works closely with Microsoft product groups, industry partners, and researchers to architect and develop server hardware solutions that meet the requirements for our cloud services platforms at the lowest possible cost of ownership. In supporting the HKMS team, you will design and develop highly scalable, reliable, and world-class manageable cloud-based services to harvest, issue, and authenticate hardware identities of root-of-trust devices for datacenter cloud servers, to track device lifecycle and enable FW security features, and improve reliability and security of cloud server hardware during the entire lifecycle. You will also work closely with Microsoft partner suppliers for onboarding Microsoft HW certificate manufacture provisioning process.

Responsibilities

  • Understand user requirements by working with stakeholders to determine user needs for features.
  • Contribute to processes for the architecture of product/solution features and help create proposals for architecture.
  • Create and implement code for products, services, or features, ensuring code is extensible and maintainable.
  • Maintain operations of live service as issues arise on a rotational, on-call basis.
  • Contribute to the development of automation within production and deployment of complex product features.
  • Design, implement, support, test, and manage DevOps of global and regional microservices, control plane services, and client tools.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python.
  • Active U.S. Government Top Secret Clearance with access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) based on a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) with Polygraph.
  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python.
  • Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python.

Benefits

  • Base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $100,600 - $199,000 per year.
  • Different pay range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, is USD $131,400 - $215,400 per year.
  • Certain roles may be eligible for benefits and other compensation.
