About the position
We are looking for a talented and passionate Software Engineer Level I who wants to make an impact in the medical space. With over 40 years of experience in the orthopedic industry, Arthrex is dedicated to providing safe and reproducible solutions for health care professionals. We are seeking a developer who will help us build and enhance tools and applications as we continue to help surgeons treat their patients. Our tech stack consists of Swift, Kotlin, AWS and Python and we are always evaluating new technologies and patterns that can have a positive impact on our products. The Software Engineer Level I will be part of a team focused on building and maintaining our mobile applications and services that help support our sales force as well as improve our customers' digital ordering experiences. Our ideal candidate has hands-on experience developing and maintaining iOS applications using Swift. The candidate will work closely with the mobile development team to build secure, efficient, and scalable applications that provide a seamless user experience. While the primary focus is iOS development, familiarity with Android or backend service development is a plus. Main Objective: Develop, support, and maintain high-end and innovative software applications that support Arthrex's mission of helping surgeons treat their patients better. Write high-quality, reliable, and maintainable code and collaborate in a cross-functional team environment.
Responsibilities
- Actively participates in software development and team ceremonies as a member of a cross functional software development team.
- Develops software features using established patterns and technology.
- Contributes to all aspects of the technology stack from client-side programming to developing and deploying back-end services.
- Monitors applications for abnormalities and looks for areas to improve application availability and speed.
- Investigates and addresses bugs.
- Conducts code reviews, provides feedback, and suggests changes as needed.
- Continuously learn new frameworks, programming languages, and tooling.
- Occasional travel for training, meetings or trade shows may be required.
Requirements
- Experience with distributed version control systems such as Git.
- Programming experience with mobile language such as Swift.
- Experience developing and supporting iOS applications in a professional environment.
- Experience with SwiftUI or UIKit.
- Experience with offline first applications is a plus.
- Limited experience developing web and/or mobile applications. Experience is mostly from school and/or personal projects.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Bachelor's degree or 1 year of software development experience.
Nice-to-haves
- Familiarity with Android or backend service development.
- Experience with macOS.
