About The Position

We're looking for a Software Engineer II to contribute to the development and integration of Navigation (NAV) software modules that interface with a Collins Flight Management System (FMS) for commercial transport aircraft. The role involves working with limited supervision on moderately complex problems and supporting certification and verification activities consistent with DAL B objectives. This is an onsite position based in Melbourne, Florida.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 2 years of prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field
  • Embedded or real-time software experience.
  • Experience in C++ and Python are required.
  • Experience across multiple phases of the software lifecycle.
  • Familiarity with Git, Jira, Confluence, Jama, and SVN.

Nice To Haves

  • DO-178B/C experience (DAL B preferred).
  • Knowledge of avionics navigation and FMS-integrated systems.
  • Experience with ICD-driven development.
  • Familiarity with ARINC 429 or ARINC 664.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Experience with ADA and C are preferred

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the design, implementation, integration, and maintenance of NAV software modules that provide navigation data to the Collins FMS.
  • Develop software in ADA, C++, C, and Python following safety-critical development standards.
  • Analyze system and software requirements, including NAV-to-FMS ICDs.
  • Participate in flight-test operations, lab testing, and simulation runs to evaluate system performance under real-world and mission-critical conditions
  • Implement navigation algorithms, data handling, and integrity monitoring logic.
  • Implement and support AI-assisted onboard features such as intelligent sensor fusion, anomaly detection, and autonomous control logic
  • Support requirements traceability in Jama or DOORS.
  • Conduct unit and integration testing and debugging.
  • Support verification and validation activities per DO-178C.
  • Participate in peer reviews, design reviews, and code inspections.
  • Collaborate with systems, verification, and certification teams.
