American Express Technologies is looking for an Engineer with AI/ML skillset to join a dynamic and innovative Mission Control tooling team. Our team is responsible for building tools that support production systems for critical platforms at Amex. The team uses Agile methodology for project delivery and operates in a fast-paced business environment. From partnering with mission critical platforms to developing highly available solutions there will always be exciting challenges in this environment.

  • Development and operational support of all Mission Control tools, including data driven web apps, integrations with Slack and other enterprise tools.
  • Delivering features that make a measurable difference in event management.
  • Leverage generative AI for some functionality.
  • Ensure any production deployable code has all the necessary Alerts and logging needed for debugging.
  • Work with operations to update runbook.
  • Identify areas of improvement within the platform and build a solution to automate monitoring solutions.
  • Implement tracing, monitoring, tooling solutions to maximize the performance and availability of applications.
  • Maintain an Agile mindset and strong DevOps alignment.
  • A proven hunger to learn new technologies and translate them into working software.
  • Managing distributed, scalable, secured, and highly-available platforms.
  • Understanding of cloud technologies such as Kubernetes, Openshift and Docker.
  • Experience with Docker, microservices and container based deployment and service orchestration using Kubernetes.
  • Hands on experience leveraging monitoring tools such as Splunk, ELK, Grafana and Dynatrace.
  • Solid knowledge of technologies such as J2EE, APIs, NodeJS and Vert.x.
  • Strong Python, Go, React, and SQL skills.
  • Hands-on experience on build systems like Maven and CI/CD.
  • Experience on Machine learning algorithms/tools and frameworks including building GenAI applications - RAG and Agentic.
  • Knowledge on network rules creation, load balancer configurations, network packet analysis and network protocols.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with internal and external business partners.
  • 5+ years of relevant work experience along with Bachelor's degree in Computer Science Engineering or related field.
