Google's software engineers develop the next-generation technologies that change

Play Monetization Experience team supports buyflow experience for Google Play
Store. This includes everything from purchase, personalization, refund,
subscription management, CRM, etc. The team is responsible for all acquisitions
across Play (e.g., in-app purchase, subscription, books, movies, games/apps,
etc.) and other Google Products like Subscribe with Google, Google One, Digital
Goods on Assistant, etc. We are responsible for the system which empowers
millions of users’ commerce experience.

As a Software Engineer in Play Monetization, you will empower app developers to
grow their businesses by building and scaling the next generation of business
models. You will join a team dedicated to creating the smartest and most
seamless digital purchasing experiences for millions of users on a global scale.

The Platforms and Devices team encompasses Google's various computing software
platforms across environments (desktop, mobile, applications), as well as our
first party devices and services that combine the best of Google AI, software,
and hardware. Teams across this area research, design, and develop new
technologies to make our user's interaction with computing faster and more
seamless, building innovative experiences for our users around the world.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 2 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages (e.g., Kotlin, Java), or 1 year of experience with an advanced degree.
• 2 years of experience with Android application development.

Nice To Haves

• Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical fields.
• 2 years of experience with data structures and algorithms.
• Experience developing accessible technologies.

Responsibilities

• Design and scale critical infrastructure that spans Android and server-side platforms to support complex buying experiences.
• Optimize the user journey by adapting payment flows to local markets and user needs, reducing friction in the purchasing process.
• Collaborate with cross-functional partners across payments, subscriptions, and the play store to solve technical challenges and drive growth.
• Enhance platform reliability by building systems that gracefully handle payment failures and ensure high availability for business-critical features.
• Enable feature teams to customize user experiences, directly impacting business growth and developer success on Google Play.
