About The Position

The Software Engineer III is a senior -level role responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining complex web -based and client/server applications for the Texas Department of Agriculture. This position focuses on modernizing and enhancing licensing systems, supporting legacy data portability, and delivering secure, scalable software solutions. The role involves close collaboration with systems analysts, architects, and business stakeholders to gather and validate requirements and resolve technical challenges. The Software Engineer III leads advanced SDLC activities, contributes to process improvements, and provides ongoing application support. This is an on -site position supporting mission -critical state agency systems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher.
  • 8 years senior -level experience analyzing software application workflows and identifying improvements.
  • 8 years performing root cause analysis and issue resolution.
  • 8 years leading the design and development of web -based applications.
  • 8 years programming with technologies including .NET/C#, HTML, HTML5, SQL, and stored procedures.
  • 8 years independently performing SDLC tasks across all phases.
  • 8 years in software application administration and management.
  • 8 years leading SDLC projects from scope through deployment.
  • 6 years using Agile SDLC methodologies.
  • 6 years collaborating across teams for requirements gathering and application development.
  • 5 years implementing software changes to meet information and network security requirements.
  • 5 years leading SDLC teams, including code validation and approval.
  • 5 years experience in technical documentation and release notes.
  • 5 years presenting software changes to stakeholders for approval.
  • 4 years using Azure DevOps, Jira, or similar tools.
  • 2 years programming in C# .NET Blazor.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience porting applications from Java to C# .NET Blazor.
  • Experience implementing responsive web design practices.
  • Experience with Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) implementation.
  • Previous experience working with Texas Department of Agriculture systems.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, debug, and document complex client/server and web -based applications.
  • Perform senior -level software development using C# (.NET), Blazor, SQL, and related technologies.
  • Develop and enhance front -end and back -end application components using HTML5, CSS, and database technologies.
  • Analyze system workflows, data usage, and processes to identify issues and recommend solutions.
  • Collaborate with systems analysts, architects, and business stakeholders to gather and validate requirements.
  • Support and maintain existing applications through troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and enhancements.
  • Lead and contribute to SDLC activities across all phases, from scope through deployment.
  • Research and implement specialized programs or routines to enhance application functionality.
  • Recommend improvements to application development processes and standards.
