Ascend Learning is hiring an Intern Software Engineer for our Site Reliability Engineering team. The Intern Software Engineer will have responsibility for developing, testing, implementing, and maintaining containerized applications and CI/CD pipelines in a for-profit organization utilizing a variety of technologies. This is a full-time intern position for Summer 2026 in our Leawood, KS office/hybrid.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree in a computer related field
  • Exposed to the concepts of an Agile based development methodology or similar formal methodologies are required
  • Some experience with Linux systems, Kubernetes, Python, Git
  • Demonstrated organizational and teamwork skills, strong attention to detail, and a willingness to participate in collaborative development projects
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and an ability to translate a business scenario into an automated technical solution
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with Pulumi, Kafka, Postgres, DataDog preferred

Responsibilities

  • Develop and support enhancements to containerized applications and automated pipelines
  • Work closely with a high-performance team daily to design and implement automation across several different projects
  • Capable of working collaboratively with team members on different teams and in different locations
  • Provide technical expertise and troubleshooting as needed to support production issues
  • Actively participate in all relevant agile ceremonies for each project iteration
