In this exciting position, you will be working with various teams to create, test, and integrate software applications for a cloud native satellite communication system. You will also be collaborating with software developers to perform static code analysis on large Python, Java, and C++ code bases to identify and resolve security and software defects. You may also be working on automating and improving software build process to include automated code analysis checks and tests. Other work in this position may include implementing and improving on continuous integration and continuous development processes within the lab and software build environments as well as software test automation. Internship Program Details: You will work onsite at a Viasat office location for the duration of your internship. Viasat embraces a flexible work environment and onsite/hybrid work is determined by individual roles and teams. Housing and relocation assistance are available to interns pending eligibility. To ensure equity across our intern population, intern compensation is pre-determined based on a variety of factors including: role, location, and final graduation date. Intern compensation is non-negotiable.

Requirements

  • Education: Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field
  • To be eligible for this position your final graduation date must fall between December 2026 and August 2027
  • Internship Dates: You must be available to work 40 hours/week for the full duration of the internship program as outlined in the cohort dates below. Limited exceptions may be granted. Viasat offers two options based on semester and quarter academic calendars: Cohort 1: May 18, 2026 – August 14, 2026 Cohort 2: June 22, 2026 – September 18, 2026
  • Citizenship: This position requires U.S. citizenship
  • Additional: Strong knowledge of at least one programming language (for example Java, Python, or C++).
  • Understanding of software algorithms and data structures, object-oriented programming, and SOLID principles

Nice To Haves

  • Course work and/or working knowledge in Python, C++, and Java programming
  • Course work and/or working knowledge of software build process and configuration management tools
  • Course work and/or working knowledge of containerization technologies such as Docker or Kubernetes
  • Course work and/or working knowledge of database systems

Responsibilities

  • Developing and testing configuration management and deployment automation scripts, programs, and playbooks.
  • Performing code analysis scans, remediation of security vulnerabilities and fixing defects.
  • Developing, testing, and deploying CI/CD and test automation.
