About The Position

As a Software Engineer Level 2 at Independent Software, you will support the development and deployment of containerized applications and infrastructure automation using modern DevOps and cloud-native technologies. You will collaborate across engineering teams to implement scalable deployment workflows, improve automation practices, and help standardize application deployment frameworks. This role offers the opportunity to grow technically while contributing to reliable, secure, and repeatable deployment solutions that support mission-focused commercial and enterprise environments.

Requirements

  • Comfortable coding in Go, Python, or TypeScript
  • Familiarity with GitOps workflows and CI/CD tools such as ArgoCD, Fleet, or similar platforms
  • Working knowledge of Kubernetes, Helm, Docker, and containerized deployment environments
  • Understanding of infrastructure-as-code concepts and Linux system operations
  • Ability to debug, troubleshoot, and support containerized applications
  • Strong collaboration skills and willingness to learn from senior engineers
  • Appreciation for automation, documentation, and reusable code practices
  • Fourteen (14) years of experience as a Software Engineer
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline from an accredited college or university is required
  • Four (4) additional years of Software Engineering experience may be substituted in place of a bachelor’s degree
  • Must possess an active TS SCI with appropriate Polygraph to be considered for this role

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of deployment pipelines and Helm charts
  • Collaborate with backend, frontend, and infrastructure teams to integrate services and deployment workflows
  • Support scalable Kubernetes deployments using Helm, GitOps workflows, and related tooling
  • Participate in code reviews, testing efforts, and documentation while adhering to team standards
  • Implement and test logic supporting application deployment patterns, secrets management, and configuration maps
  • Support internal initiatives to standardize and document reusable application deployment templates
